Community initiative asks residents to share ‘missing links’ with bike lanes, sidewalks in the city

An Edmonton group advocating for stronger active transportation infrastructure is reaching out to residents across the city to share “the missing links” in their neighbourhoods.

Non-profit organization Paths for People hopes to improve walking and cycling conditions across the city through its new initiative, The Missing Links, that launched Friday, offering all residents an opportunity to share the infrastructure gaps they face on their daily commutes.

The need for upgrades to many sidewalks, crosswalks and bike lanes is clear, Paths for People executive director Sarah Hoyles said a few hours after the program launch.

The website had just under 50 submissions from the public as of Friday afternoon, highlighting areas where pedestrian-friendly infrastructure is missing.
